Karen Sue McCauley
December 17, 1951 - June 23, 2012
Karen Sue McCauley passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 23, 2012 in Houston, TX. She was born on December 17, 1951 in Columbus, Indiana. She was predeceased by her parents Bob and Yvonne Brauner. She is survived by her loving husband, Mike McCauley of Houston, and her sister, Sharon Simpson and her husband Mike Simpson both of Missouri City, TX. She is also survived by a host of loving relatives including in-laws, JoAnne McCauley, and Ervin & Becky McCauley, all of Villeplatte, LA, and nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews in the Houston area and in Louisiana, who meant the world to her and she to them.
She moved to Houston as a baby and remained there the rest of her life. She attended Houston Public Schools: Burnet Elementary, Jackson Jr. High and Austin High School. While in junior high, she made a profession of faith and was baptized at Central Park Church of God. While in high school, she was a member of the Scottish Brigade Drill Team.
After school days, she worked in quite a few business offices - growing in her skills and knowledge of technology throughout the years. She worked for Mapp Caster, Brown and Root, Joe D. Hughes and most recently, Grinding and Sizing.
When her last company was sold and downsized, she enjoyed spending more time with Mike and her family members. She was an attentive, loving and serving daughter to Yvonne while she was living out her last years with Alzheimer's. Having a husband who loved hunting and fishing, Karen became a nature lover. Feeding the birds and squirrels in their back yard was an activity she loved and found peaceful in the midst big city life. Another escape from big city life was time spent in the woods with Mike and friends there.
She was a woman with a quiet, non-intrusive nature who focused on others rather than herself. Her presence was felt strongly in our lives through this gentle nature. She was a woman of faith and prayer. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Pastoral Care Ministry of Houston's First Baptist Church would be appreciated.
