Remembering...

Charlene Jo Ellis Bolt
August 28, 1930 - March 2, 2012

The daughter of Lela Walden Ellis and Clayton Russell Ellis, both natives of Liberty, Kentucky, Charlene Jo Bolt was born in Amarillo, Texas on August 28, 1930. Soon after her birth the family returned to Liberty, Kentucky to raise their child. The eldest child, Jo cherished her beloved sisters, Janis Irwin and Zona Weddle, and her brother, Russell Ellis who preceded her in death. She loved her dear cousins Sonja Ann Wisner, Elizabeth Abigail Dorman, Jerry Hignite and David Hignite. Her many relatives and extended family were the center of her life. On October 3, 1950, Jo married Dillard Lee Bolt, of Rheber, Kentucky, who preceded her in death on February 16, 2009. Their union brought forth their five children, Deborah Lee Bolt, Patricia Marlene Bolt, Kimberly Allyn Lopez, Lee Walden Bolt and Jon Christopher Bolt. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Natalie Lela Lopez Eckerman, Stephanie Nicole Lopez, Loren Blake Lopez, Lyle Joshua Juhl, Christopher Todd Bolt and Kathryn Lela Bolt. Graduating from Nazareth School of Nursing, St. Joseph Hospital, in Lexington, Kentucky, Jo used her education to care for the people of Casey County. She served the community as the county public health nurse, school nurse, and interim administrator of the Casey County Hospital, finishing her health care career as nurse at the hospital for many years. Dillard and Jo then moved to Texas to be close to their children and grandchildren. With the care and love of her children, Jo passed away, at home, on March 2, 2012 in Spring, Texas. She will be placed with her husband at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Known to all as Mom, Mama, Mama Jo or simply Jo, she will live eternally in our hearts.
